Somebody's Watch'n' Me

I always feel like somebody's watch'n' me...that's the money you could be saving with Geico.
With a revamped version of the 1984 Rockwell hit "Somebody's Watching Me" the insurance company Geico teamed up with Mysto and Pizzi to create the new catchy theme song to their commercials featuring a certain stack of money with eyeballs. This company has created one of the most effective advertising campaigns I've ever seen (although I like the Geico Gecko better. It's the classic battle of the talking gecko vs. the googley eyes sitting on top of some cash).
After last week's blog it seems like a lot of people have been watching me via my blog, and although they are not replying to the posting, I've received various emails where you all came out in support of the tough week I had. Thank you for the prayers and support you were sending my way :-)
As for this week there are so many things about which I can blog that I'm going to resort to a number chart:
1. What does "equally yolked mean?" People quote that in scripture all the time, but I'd like to find some metrics somewhere that talks about an equal yolk.
2. I went to a three-hour silent retreat at my church on Saturday. The Priest (I attend an Episcopal Church) did three devotions on using the Lord's Prayer as a pattern for prayer, and there were many things I found amazing about this time with the Lord. But, the one that I can't get out of my mind is, "Thy will be done." When we ask what God's will is (according to the preacher) we let God into our homes, but we never invite Jesus into the basement. I know the areas in my life where I need the most help and I wonder why I can't open up my basement to God. There is a Psalm and a Proverb that say, "The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom/understanding." To me God=Love. What about God's love to I fear? Why can't I let him into my basement?
3. My future. Ok, because of OPSEC (Operational Security) I can't make this portion of the blog as detailed as I want, but I've got an idea about my future. I'm PCS'ing (leaving) from Pendle'fun' to Norfolk in June, where I start my GSA orders to Kuwait. I'll be in Kuwait until the Dec/Jan time frame, and then I'm coming back. If all goes well (remember this is the Navy we're talking about...), then I'll get stationed on a ship in Norfolk (I know the name of the ship, which I will share with you in an email). I can't wait to get back to the east coast! The majority of my friends and family are there, and I'm no fool I don't expect them to put down their lives to welcome me back, it will be nice to be around this vast support network.
4. Who is God? I'm writing out my theology, which if I'm brave I will post to this blog. But, I'm starting with who God is...
5. Lent. I'm changing Lenten directions 1/2 way through this season, and it's for the best. On this retreat the Priest talked about respect to God "Hallowed by thy name," and he used the language that Marines as an example. I've always thrown in a cuss word here or there, but lately it has gotten outta hand. So, instead of giving up soda for Lent like I have been doing I've decided after Saturday to give up cussing instead. Since anyone who has tried to quit cussing (smoking, or drinking for that matter) can rarely do it cold turkey without a backslide or two I've devised a plan: For every cuss word utter from my mouth I donate .25 to a cuss jar (actually it's my chalice), and then I'll double the money and on Easter Monday I'll mail that money to the church. This is my Lenten resolution that will transcend Lent, so I can honor "Hallowed by thy name."
So these are the top five things happening around my side of the world.
Thank you again for your prayers and email :-).

wow!! there's so much to comment on here. i don't even know where to start! can't wait to read your theology!! hopefully you'll get the guts to share it with us! :)

as far as equally yolked goes...i think it's actually 'yoked' as in an oxen team! the oxen who are yoked together have to work together to pull the plow. if they aren't equal, it wouldn't really be a fair team effort and might even be counter productive!
